INFRA-SPACE 2: WORCESTER
Worcester, MA | 2015-Present
The Infra-Space program is a statewide initiative with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to re-evaluate spaces under viaducts for better urban and ecological performance. Infra-Space 2 was a study for transforming the under-story of a highway landscape in central Worcester. This site was most strongly characterized by the convergence of multiple transportation corridors leading to the city’s central train station. Infra-Space 2 was a study for re-connecting these transportation paths to each other and to the surrounding neighborhood while also managing all of the urban storm-water generated by the highway and providing new recreation amenities to the city.
